Veganism In The Jesus Movement

See that the universe is made up of “God”. Define “God” as “All That Is”. In this expanded world-view, every perspective is valid as every perspective has existence. In this way, spiritual masters such as Jesus are not anymore extraordinary than you are. And yet, their actions and words could prove to challenge the very nature of your soul.

For many, the life of Jesus is shrouded in orthodoxy and tradition that has been altered by the words of priests and rulers that desired to live a life that they were use to. And for many others, the very idea of Jesus is simply a myth, a made up story like that of Lord of the Rings or Star Wars.

Yet, even if we are to suppose the tale is made up, just like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, the story is told for a reason. To expound upon the hero’s journey from darkness to light.

The Darkness — Animal Sacrifice

Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. — Genesis 1:29

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; — Genesis 2:15–16

In the beginning, it was said that Adam and Eve lived on a plant-based diet. Yet, after being given a higher sense of free will through the Tree of Knowledge (where there actions could disrupt the nature of Eden) they proceeded a negative action by murdering an animal, and were therefore cast out of the garden of Eden, by God. This was the beginning of humanity’s fall to darkness. Where we started to hunger for negativity, and received most of our sustenance from that negativity, somehow believing it was good and necessary. Going against the first commandment “Thou Shall Not Kill”.

However, most assume eating animals is still a preferred thing to do, because Jesus himself was said to eat lamb and fish. Yet, this is something most all have done in our lives. Though, after experiencing the trauma of what the entire action creates, we move towards a lighter path. For there have been many writings that were hidden away for fear that they would be destroyed, because of the more compassionate perspective they would have presented to the people of the day. For it is lesser known that Jesus and his disciples were plant based eaters, in order to raise the vibration of the planet during their time.

Also, how do we know that these passages were translated in the proper way? Our views could change the history depending on how we look at our present situation. Theologizing of about a single word of any sacred or heretical text, is therefore a legitimate discussion to have.

The verse where Jesus’s disciples “were gone away unto the city to buy meat” (John 4:8). This has been noted as a mistranslation from the King James version wherein “meat” simply meant nutrition in the generic sense. Hence, the revision simply translates this same passage as “his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food”. As an example of how texts can easily be altered to fit the lifestyle of the translator, and not of the spiritual master.

The original version of the “Feeding of the Multitude” story only refers to bread, not bread with fish. “Fish” apparently got added to some gospel verses later on.

Keeping once again in mind, that fish was a well known mystical symbol. The Greek word for fish (Ichthys) was used as an acronym whose initials in Greek stood for ‘Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior’.” The idea, of Jesus eating fish after the resurrection could be symbolic of eating any food at all, to prove his resurrected physical presence. Therefore, any use of the word has historical evidence being intended for symbolic use and not literal.

Jesus highlighting the negativity of Animal Sacrifice

In the Ebionite scriptures, there is nothing to indicate that Jesus was still eating any kind of meat or fish. Not only that, but there are many examples of Jesus desiring the opposite.

According to the Gospel of the Ebionites, Jesus rejected the Passover meal:

“I have no desire to eat the flesh of this Paschal Lamb with you.” — Jesus

As well as other gnostic writings:

“Now beware in yourselves that your hearts do not become heavy with the eating of flesh and with the intoxication of wine and with the anxiety of the world, and that day come up upon you suddenly; for as a snare it will come upon all them that sit on the surface of the earth.” — Jesus, Luke 21:34: Evangelion Da-Mepharreshe — Old Syriac-Aramaic Manuscript of the New Testament Gospels

“Go and find out what is meant by the scripture that says: ‘It is kindness that I want, not animal sacrifices.’” (Jesus, Gospel of Matthew 9:13, Good News translation)

Furthermore, in the Ebionite scriptures Jesus condemned animal sacrifice in the temple of Jerusalem and sought to forever bring that practice to an end.

“I have come to abolish the sacrifices, and if you cease not from sacrificing, my wrath will not cease from you.” — Jesus (Panarion 30.16.5)

It is also noted that Jesus’s cleansing of the temple was a protest against Animal Sacrifice.

So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. — John 2:15

This was a protest against the meat industry which daily traded animals to be sacrificed. It was the deciding factor that lead to Jesus’s arrest and crucifixion.

The Disciples Ate Plant Based

The disciples were reportedly following a strict plant-based diet. Why would they follow such a divergent way of life unless they had been influenced by someone that spoke of the negatives of animal consumption?

“John never ate meat.” “James, the brother of the Lord, lived on seeds and plants and touched neither meat nor wine.” The Apostle Thomas: “He continually fasts and prays, and abstaining from the eating of flesh…” “…The Apostle Matthew partook of seeds, and nuts, hard-shelled fruits, and vegetables, without flesh.” Peter said, “I live on olives and bread, to which I rarely only add vegetables…” “The unnatural eating of flesh meats is as polluting as the heathen worship of devils…” (Peter, Clementine Homilies)

Peter said, “I live on olives and bread, to which I rarely only add vegetables.” (Clementine Homilies 12,6; also see, Recognitions 7,6)

The Ebionites also came out as plant-based eaters. They would refer to the lifestyle as the most compassionate and healthiest way of life:

“The unnatural eating of flesh meats is as polluting as the heathen worship of devils, with its sacrifices and its impure feasts, through participation in it a man becomes a fellow eater with devils.” (Saint Peter, Clementine Homilies)

A Vegan Prophecy

Most people do not like the idea of changing their way of life and point to the predatory nature of animals, as the sole reason it is natural to kill and be killed. Yet, if free will means anything at all, it is the free will to choose a different path. Animals then become a reflection of our own nature, participating in the same actions we participate within, because of our limiting beliefs about what is possible in reality.

Thus, a passage that predicts a new way of life for all creatures, is bound to happen when the consciousness rises to a new level of perception:

“The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.”
 — Isaiah 11:6–9

Science Sheds Even More Light

The Ebionites were one of the few that knew of the benefits of switching to a plant-based diet. Not only that, but they believed that God is loving and merciful, and that he would not send his son to be murdered for our sins. That the idea of Jesus dying on the cross to atone for our sins is violent and bloodthirsty. And that the idea of Jesus dying on the cross to atone for our sins is not necessary, because we can all be saved directly.

That direction is obviously up to our own decision to be God as Jesus was teaching us to do.

This is where science has assisted our spiritual compass in the last few centuries. With new scientific research on the nature of profound sentience of animals, the health dangers of eating animal products of any kind, and the benefits of a plant-based diet for the human body and the environment as a whole. We are now seeing a synthesis of spirit and logic, into a single holistic field of realization for anyone to discover.

Jesus is Vegan

Of course, this is but one perspective to highlight a more preferable path for humanity. Jesus clearly strived to have the most balanced lifestyle possible in his day and time. And yet, he did not have the scientific information to back up the knowledge he obtained from intuition. It seems to reason that if Jesus was walking around in physical form today, he would see the environmental, ethical, health, and economic issues of all animal products and strive to not participate in it. As the original meaning of the word “dominion” meant “caretaker”. Some may assume a vegetarian lifestyle is good enough, or that even grass-fed meat is good enough. It must be noted that he would love you no matter what you chose. But, he won’t be able to heal the pain of your unconscious suffering.

It is just that, it would definitely not be something he would be choosing now. Because, assuming there is no death, only a transition, he is already vegan. He already persists as the greatest way to express a compassionate lifestyle. And if he was physical now, and he knew one can walk on water or heal the blind, then surely one would know that they can persist on lifeforms that do not express the intense emotions of suffering and pleasure. Certainly, if those things are possible, anything is possible. And why not choose the path that gives more life to all? For now, the best thing we can do is see how our lifestyle can be closest to the ascended light body. Closest to the idea of which Jesus and all ascended masters are at, right this very moment. Completely free of the desire for any harm at all. In total bliss, and joy.
